The sun has got his hat on

Wow what a difference a bit of sunshine can have on your spirits. Its been beautifully sunny here today and not only has it been sunny its been warm too, 15 degrees. These last few weeks i have felt, well, a little blaaa. I think it's all the being stuck inside and the dark gloominess but then a bit of sunshine today and i feel incredibly positive.

I got some washing out onto the line for the first time this year today, I love to see nice white washing flapping on the line in the wind and it always smells so nice when its been dried outside. We haven't got a tumble drier so if we cant get it outside everything has to be dried on airers and radiators and it seems like its never ending.

Yesterday when it was cold and raining Miss E and I talked about how birds like to eat worms but when its cold they cant because the ground is too hard while we were walking home from Preschool and we decided that the birds in our garden might like it if we put some food out for them as they couldn't get to the worms, so i promised her that if it wasn't raining today when she finished preschool we would go and put some bread out for them, so that's what we decided. Miss E decided that on top of the table would be a good place to put the bread.

We talked about how we would need to break the bread up into little pieces because birds only have little mouths. Miss E's bread is on the right and mine is on the left. I got told off for making my pieces too big. She now keeps going and checking to see if the birds have eaten it yet.

We then spent a lovely afternoon playing in the garden with Nanny Pixie. We played in the playhouse, hide and seek and on the slide

Hopefully Miss E and Little L should sleep well tonight after all that fresh air and vitamin D, Little L certainly should as he seems to have decided today that napping is NOT the in thing at the moment, perhaps he was so excited by the sunshine as we don't see it very often that he didn't want to miss a minute of it.

I've managed to get a lot of hooky done lately. I am working on some bunting for an order at the minute.

This is one of the end flags, what do you think? I have also been busy making lipbalm holders, i have been inundated with orders for them, i had 5 ordered just yesterday, and hair accessories.

Do you remember i gave you a sneaky peak at what i was creating for mothers day? Would you like to see the finished piece? Well here it is.

I hope you've enjoyed the nice weather today.

rollercoaster of emotions

Well where do I start? We had a lovely weekend once again. Mr M's parents came to visit on Saturday, Little L and Miss E both love to spend time with both sets of their grandparents, we are very lucky in that they are both close by and a big part of their lives. We went to Biggleswade a little market town and had a wonder around the market and the shops and then had a coffee in the coffee shop that over looks the market square, so we sat and watched the world go by. I grew up in Biggleswade and i really do miss it. Its amazing how being in a certain place or a certain smell or sound can take you right back to a different part of your life. So many memories of the market square span through my life, from doing the shopping with my Nan, to watching the Christmas lights being turned on, to being a little bit worse for wear after coming out of one of the many pubs to pushing Miss E through it for the first time when she was 2 days old hoping that i would see someone i know so that i could show her off. All of these memories came flooding back to me as i sat outside the coffee shop under the heater watching people go about their business.

On Sunday we just had a day at home, lots of puzzles, snuggles, and watching films. I do feel a bit guilty that we have been spending so much time inside lately, but the kids don't seem to mind, especially Miss E as there has been lots of film watching, crafts and baking.

Mr scarecrow is all finished, hes quite a jolly little fellow even with his wonky smile. I cant take the credit for the pattern, you can find the pattern here.

I've also made this daisy ring too this week, i have to say i am quite proud of this because still being quite a newby crocheter it is the first thing that i have created without a pattern, i just made it up myself. If anyone is interested in the pattern let me know and i will have a go at writing it up for you. This ring makes me think of spring, i really do long for spring and summer now, i have had enough of the cold, gloomy, dreary winter. I long to see blue skies and sunshine and flowers.

Did you all have a good valentines day? Did any of you do anything nice? I have to say i have become a bit of a scrooge when it comes to valentines day. I tell Mr M that i love him everyday, i don't need a special day to do it and i think couples that do only do it on this one day of the year probably wont last all that long. I think that it has become so comercialized it puts pressure on people to spend money that they may not have. We spent our Valentines night in A&E with little L : (. He had spent the day with my mum, he had a little bit of a cough in the morning but as the day went on his cough got worse and he got really wheezy, when he got home he was really wheezy and was struggling to breath so i took him to the doctors and she knew why we were there as soon as we walked into the room before I'd even said anything. She sent us to A&E. It turned out to be a reaction to a virus (that we didn't know he had, because he didn't have any symptoms of it yet). He was given an inhaler that we had to give him every three hours day and night bless him. The inhaler worked wonders. The Virus made itself seen on Wednesday in the form lots of bogie's bless him. I felt so guilty about having sent him out for the day when he wasn't well. I now think Miss E is coming down with it as she has been wanting to sleep a lot and having lots of cuddles. So i think we are likely to spend a few more days inside yet.

Would you like a sneaky peak at what i am planning for mothers day? Well here it is, can you guess what it is?

Well i think i have rambled on enough for one post, enjoy what is left of the half term, it has gone so quickly xx

Mixed days

Good morning,

What a funny few days its been. On Monday I had some bad news, I applied for a job as a nursery nurse (childcare practitioner if you want to be pc) at Miss E's Pre-School, well they phoned me to say that unfortunately I hadnt been successful. I know its silly but it upset me quite a lot because until that I had got every job I had ever applied for.

On Tuesday however my mood was listed when I got my first proper order for my facebook page, an order not from someone I know or from a friend of someone I know, exciting times. They ordered one of my lipbalm holders

I have to say I love these, they are so handy I am always losing my lipbalm so mine stays clipped onto my handbag. There a nice quick easy project to hook up too.

On Tuesday I turned Little L's cot into a bed as well. We're going on holiday in June and he will have to sleep in a proper bed so I wanted him to get used to it before then. So off came the bars.

It was lovely at bedtime because it meant that I could put him into bed and then sit on the bed with him while we did milk, story and teeth. He wasnt at all phased by it. I put pillows on the floor by the cot in case he fell out, he fell out 3 times the first night but only once the second night. I thought he hadnt worked out that he could get out of bed as I half expected him to run around causing havac as he wasnt trapped in bed (hes a lot more adventurous than Miss E ever was) and when I went in to get him up and say for him to come over to me but he would sit there with his arms up for me to get him. But he was just tricking me becasue when I made his bed I found a stickle brick and a little people green grocer in there, so he had got out of bed at some point, the cheeky little monkey. He seems to be growing up so quickly, too quickly, I think I need to find the pause button.

On Wednesday an idea for a project hit me right between the eyes! Unfortunately i've got a few things that I need to get made up for people first so im pushing it to the back of my mind for now, although I am itching to have a go to see if it would work and look how I imagine it in my head. Im not going to tell you what it is so you'll just have to watch this space!

This week I have been working on a scarecrow for the lovely Tracey at Tumble Tent, If you are local to Letchworth I highly recomend it, its such a lovely, friendly, relaxed atmosphere in there, my two muchkins love it. We will indeed be visiting them during half term next week. I'd love to hear about what you've been working on this week and your plans for half term.

I made sweet potato chips for tea the other day, they were delicious, and healthy. All I did was Peel and cut up a sweet potato into chips and then sprayed a baking tray with fry light, put the chips onto the baking tray, sprayed the chips and then put them in the oven. I had them on gas mark 7. They dont take as long as normal potatoes do when cooked this way. They were something a bit different. Does anyone else find that you seem to have the same dinners over and over and over again. I'd love to hear about your quick easy dinners that you have.

Thats me done for now its nearly time for the school run, so keep warm and safe and I'll be back soon, hopefully with some pictures of a finished scarecrow

Family time!

Hello, I hope you have all had a good weekend and have enjoyed the snow. I have had the nicest weekend, we havent done anything particularly exciting but its been lovely spending quality time with the kids and Mr M. Yesterday me and Miss E took a brisk walk to the shop to blow the cobwebs away, bbbrrrrrrrr  it was cold, and buy some hot cross buns, or special buns as Miss E calls them, for us to have for our lunch. They didnt have any hot cross buns but Miss E agreed that teacakes would make a good alternative. Once we had had our toasted teacakes Little L went down for a sleep and Mr M, me and Miss E all snuggled on the sofa to watch Toy Story, theres nothing nicer than snuggling with my babies.

Later on Miss E and i made a cake, Sugar and spice cake and it was delicious even if i do say so myself. The recipe came from the Usborne Children's book of baking cakes, my nan brought Miss E this book for christmas and its the first chance we've had to make anything out of it. Miss E wore her chefs hat and apron that my mum got her for christmas and she looked adorable.

We didnt have to worry what we were going to cook for tea all day, we usually forget to get anything out at the weekends and then it gets to tea time and its like oops what are we going to have? Does anyone else do this or is it just me that really isnt very organised? Anyway on friday i made a chilli in the slow cooker ( the best invention in the world) and we had that with jacket potatoes nom nom nom.

This is what we woke up to this morning. Miss E was so excited, it had just started to snow when she went to bed last night and i had told her that if it snowed enough we would make a snowman in the morning. So the first things she said to me this morning is "can we make a snowman mummy?" that child is like an elephant, she never forgets! So at 9 o clock this morning we were all wrapped up and out in the garden. Little L didnt like it so Mr M tok him inside while me and Miss E made a snowman and then had a snowball fight

Im afraid im not a very good Mummy and i wasnt prepared for the snow (we didnt have any carrots in) so we improvised and used pegs for his eyes, nose, mouth and buttoms.

Just recently i have been watching my children playing with absolute amazement, i find it astounding that this time last year Little L was completely and utterly dependant on me and just a short 12 months later (hes 13 months now) he's running around with his own cheeky little character with a whole aray of funny faces and the appetite of a horse! And Miss E this time last year she was only really just beginning to talk (shes 3 now) and now shes doesnt stop talking and most definately knows her own mind. The amount of time that they are babies really is a very short time indeed and now i am a mum myself i can completely understand why some women go on to have a lot of children.

Theres not been much time for crafting this weekend but i did manage to get a couple of lipbalm holders made up to go on my Facebook page.

To a lot of people this weekend would have been incredibly boring, other than to nip to the shop we havent even left the house but to me it has been a perfect weekend and i wouldnt change this quality family time for the world!

Poor Little L

good morning all, and thank you to everyone that read my first blog! I had to take Little L for his immunisations yesterday, it was his 12 month booster and his mmr so he had 3 needles stuck into his massive incredibly pinchable thighs bless him. He wasnt happy about it. The nurse tried to wipe some blood away afterwards and he screamed out again because he thought she was going to give him another injecion. I hate taking them for immunisations, in one way it goes against everything that you aim to do as a parent which is preventing them from hurting and then you take them along to these ladies who stick not one, not two but three needles in their legs : ( although obviously i know that those 3 jabs are nothing compared to how he could suffer if he were to catch the illness' that the jabs prevent.

Im rambling sorry, ive had a very productive week this week hooky wise, i've completed 2 hats. would you like to see?

I went shopping as well for yarn, (i loooooovvvvvvvvveeeeeeeee shopping for yarn) theres so many beautiful colours! I picked up some beautiful colours, nice and bright and vibrant! What do you think?

Aren't they stunning? Theres nothing I love more than getting some new yarn home, taking the wrapper off and using it to create something beautiful for the first time. Im so very easily pleased.

I treated myself when i was doing the food shopping the other week to a hyacinth bulb. Its flowered beautifully, even dark and grey and miserable outside, it gives me hope that brighter weather is on its way and its given me the urge to spring clean so today after pre-school Miss E and Little L are going to spend the afternoon with Nanny and Grandad Pixie so that i can spring clean the house and finally try to get some sense of order. Ive been spending so much time enjoying a bit a hooky lately that i have been a little lazy with the housework. Who would really clean and wash and iron than enjoy some hooky? Well today is the day i am going to get on top of everything and then it wont take so much time to keep on top of (hopefully) i just need to resist the urge to sit down with my hook. So heres a picture of my hyacinth to give all of you hope to that spring will be here soon and the weather will be better
